Who do you think is the greatest (or most infamous) of horror villains?
For my list, I used the following criteria. It has to be a specific individual, so no zombies or critters. He has to have been in more than one movie. I tried to include a female icon, but the only one I could think of was Angela from Night of the Demons, and I can't remember if she was in any of the sequels.
And that's that. Get to voting and discussing!

Jason was always my personal favorite. He's a no nonsense, but actually deep character. I'm also pretty sure he has the highest confirmed kill count of any horror movie villain. Freddy is a close second, the whole "killing with dreams" thing is just awesome, and very scary.
I also own a Jason X replica mask, with Kane Hodder's signature, and a hand made 400 Dollar Freddy Krueger glove.
Dracula, in the classic sense, Is also very dear to me. The book, and book inspired movie versions only though, ever since Twilight, vampires have just gone downhill.

As far as I know, Jason does have the highest kill count, outside of global threats.
You likely already know, but Freddy was inspired by three real life things. His name came from a bully who tormented Craven when he was a child. His trademark sweater and hat came from some late night wanderer Craven once saw from his bedroom window. The man stopped outside the house and stared at Wes. The death by dream concept came from something Craven read about in a news article, which described a number of people who died from unknown causes while they were sleeping.
Twilight certainly didn't help the cause of scary vampires, but for me the downhill slide started with From Dusk 'til Dawn. When scores of vampires can't defeat six regular people, there is something wrong. I like to think they were mentally and physically crippled from drinking the blood of all those drunk people at the bar over a prolonged period of time.

I'm upset at the fact you didn't add the Cannibal.
Hannibal Lecter.

I'm upset at the fact you didn't add the Cannibal. Hannibal Lecter. Hannibal is a great character. You'll notice I referenced him in the shoutbox. However, I'm not certain whether to classify him as a villain or an antihero.

However, I'm not certain whether to classify him as a villain or an antihero. I laugh when I saw that in the Shoutbox. I would count him as a villain. As he hunts down the innocents and eat them to show dominance. He doesn't really care for anyone except for the girl in Silence of the Lambs.
