It is one of life's most intriguing mysteries. Is there life on other planets? If so, is it intelligent? And finally, if there is intelligent life out there, has it visited us?
It has been said that if only one out of every billion planets had life, that would mean there are six billion such planets. To me, that seems to be fairly good odds. If this is the case, how many of those species have developed the capability for advanced space travel?
Could travellers from light years away have checked out our world? Many skeptics scoff, saying that such advanced beings would have no interest in a race as inferior as ours. Well, we consider insects and microorganisms to be inferior to us, but there are still many people who make studying them their life work. Many people enjoy vacationing in what they consider to be primitive regions.
I've also read theories that life was put on Earth as an experiment, and that alien visitors often come by to check on our progress.
To paraphrase the character Ellie Arroway in Contact, if we are alone in this vast universe, it seems to be an awful waste of space.
So what do you think? Is Earth the only planet containing life, or are we part of a galactic neighbourhood?

It's a great site, and it covers just, all the topics. Extremely informative.
And that Fermi post is Elon Musk approved. Last month, the author actually sat down with Musk and discussed many topics, including aliens.
