I'm thinking of GMing a table top rpg for my gaming group, Beyond the Supernatural, perhaps in a year's time. I'm not sure which scenario would be better, though. Which haunted setting do you think would be scarier for people to be trapped in, a large apartment building or a cruise ship?

For me, It'd be the cruise ship. They're quite large, offering lots of exploration and trapping opportunities, but at the same time, It's a ship, you can't just escape from a ship, so as a player you'd feel quite trapped.

That's my opinion as well, but I once asked this elsewhere and the general consensus was that the apartment building was scarier. Glad to see someone agrees with me.

Perhaps apartments, even houses seem scarier because It's closer to home. Few people spend enough time on ships to truly get to know them. But everyone spends their lives in apartments, so It's easier to immerse yourself in similar environments. Symbolically, and personally though, maritime environments are by far the scariest for me.
